Overview:

This binder serves as a filing system that keeps track of all state-funded services, school district and independent therapists’ documentation (such as assessments, progress reports, IEPs), and
all correspondence. It is also serves as a quick-reference guide to EVERYTHING you do related to the education and development of your child.

The Education/Developmental Binder is a tool to help you monitor and manage your child’s academic and developmental progress. It’s especially useful when you have multiple practitioners helping with various educational and therapeutic protocols simultaneously – for example, school, speech therapy, ABA, OT, etc. Remember, YOU are your child’s caseworker. None of your teachers or therapists are going to keep a composite record of all the different services delivered to your child. Parents are responsible for updating and coordinating it all. It’s up to you to stay on top of it, then clearly articulate your child’s status to each of your teachers and practitioners on a regular basis. This is the only way you can assure that your child is getting the most appropriate education at the most appropriate time. Your teachers, therapists, administrators, and counselors will be grateful, as this will take a lot of the guesswork out their assessments and subsequent plans for your child.
