Overview:

The Journal Binder is both a management and diagnostic tool. It is designed to assure upkeep of your child’s "at home" care and help identify trends in your child’s condition that may otherwise go undetected. There can be many fluctuations in the day-to-day and month-to-month behaviors and reactions in our special needs children. Because new behaviors and reactions are not immediate, but may have cause to develop over time, it becomes important to
log in the programs your child is on and make note of any progress/ changes. For example, you may want to test the efficacy of a new supplement you’re trying; or you may be suspicious of reactions to new foods; or maybe you notice a small rash after using certain brands of sunscreens, soaps, or creams. You may notice a change
in sleep patterns or bowel movements that correlate with something new your child is taking. There are so many internal and external sensitivities with our kids. We need to know what is working and what is not. Remember, YOU are your child’s caseworker. None of your professional practitioners are going to keep a composite record of all the different factors that could affect your child. It’s up to you to stay on top of it all, make informed decisions on behalf of your child, and clearly articulate your child’s status to each of your practitioners on a regular basis. This is the only way you can assure that your child is getting the most appropriate care at the most appropriate time. Your practitioners will be grateful, as this will take a lot of the guesswork out their assessments and subsequent plans/treatments for your child.
